With XP support ending, I need to move on. I liked the look of Zorin OS 7 and wanted to try and give it a shot. I d/l'ed the ISO and made a bootable USB stick to try out the Live environment.
Everything went fine making the USB stick, I popped it in, rebooted my laptop, selected the 'Live Environment' option, and get the following error ---------- This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU: pae Unable to boot -- please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU. ---------- And there ended my foray into Linux world. A bit of googling shows my laptop (Thinkpad T42) uses a Pentium M processor that does not properly support the PAE flag, so Zorin doesn't see it, and just stops.
